Rihanna has always released her albums at the busiest times of the year. The only time she didn't was during her first 3 releases. She has a different audience than Adele.

I think Rihanna has lost her competitive spirit so she will release it whenever she wants. like she legit just does not care anymore about chart related stuff I think.
Unlike others Rihanna has released 7 albums in 7 years regardless of competition. She has never ever been scared of anyone including Adele. Nice try though.

People said the same when Talk That Talk was announced as a full album instead of a Loud re-release. The album was urban-pop and still went platinum and still notched the biggest female-led hit of the decade (We Found Love).
