Every year this debate comes up and it somehow gets more cringe worthy each year. This whole website is pathetic. You cannot imprint 20th and 21st century values on people living in the 1400's. What kind of nonsense. Yes what Columbus did was horrible but you're acting like he was the only one. Spend 10 minutes looking up world history and you'll find that EVERY SINGLE CIVILIZATION WAS COMMITTING THE SAME ATROCITIES. The Chinese, Europeans, Africans, Aztecs, every single one was actively partaking in inhumane killings, slavery and genocide. Its funny how everyone overlooks the inhumanities that occurred within these tribes. They would sacrifice their own people and vicioulsy scalp, skin and mutilate opposing tribe members even women and children. Please DON'T give me that argument "well it was their culture" because it was occurring at the exact same time as Columbus.
And at the end of the f****** day these things all happened. We can't change them, and we shouldn't be mad at them. That argument that other people had reached America before is such a moot and pitiful point to even make. REGARDLESS of what you may believe, if it wasn't for Columbus convincing the Spanish to invest massive quantities of money towards voyages to America, NONE of you would even be here at all. Everything you see around you was ultimately a result of his trips. So stop bitching about things you cannot change, make a separate holiday honoring natives and move on with your f*****g pathetic lives.
