No. Just the racism and ignorance of "It's okay for other races to use hateful slurs." Whites shouldn't use it, and neither should anyone else.

The main defense I hear for blacks using the word is that they are reclaiming a word used to put them down, to take the power away from it. If that's the case, it is not a hispanic person's word to reclaim, and they shouldn't use it. I agree with the reclaiming thing, and it goes for more than just that - gays saying ****** for example.

But whatever, it's not my word to reclaim either. It's not my place to decide who uses it.

Well this logic fails somewhat when many hispanics are descended from africans themselves, literally only exist because we descended from slaves, and were indeed called the n-word (in the offensive sense) in the past. Not all of us look like Jessica Alba or Christina Aguilera. I know puerto ricans and dominicans (especially) who look more stereotypically "black" than most black celebrities do.
