This album is do bad by ciara standards. It may be authentic and genuinely from the good vibes she is currently living with but it just wasn't what she needed in her career
I just hope c7 can backtrack and do what Jackie was supposed to. Cause let's face it - she's here to stay. I just hope she isn't here to be remembered as a flop

At this point she needs to put in SOME SERIOUS work and carefully execute an album's release for that NOT to happen.. Even self titled could of been delivered better. Im Out was an atrocious follow up single to Body Party and there was hardly a lack of single quality songs lets face it.

Problem with Ciara is that she clearly doesn't know her audience and refuses to listen to her fans. Jackie, minus 2 or 3 songs is without a doubt the worst addition to her discography.. DLWML should of immediately followed I Bet as it reached its peak, and maybe things would of been different with the album... Instead she waited for months while I Bet literally flew out of the Top 200 and decreased at radio and then months later a random single is released, all the while the label is tweeting and releasing covers of a completely different second single.
I have no idea why EVERYTHING with Ciara's career is incredibly messy and unplanned. As a loyal fan from 2003/2004 i am incredibly frustrated and its going to take not only AMAZING music this time (which normally has NEVER been the problem) amazing strategies, and well chosen singles which are delivered correctly to actually get me interested again, and the 1000's of fans she has lost clearly feel the same..
Csquad was waiting for her and the label to grab her career by the balls and literally SLAY. Especially with the hopeful success and amazing quality of the self titled album..
Performance wise Ciara is probably the best out of the R&B girls of her generation. She does work alot but its all the wrong things she's doing.. That stupid show. a deodorant commercial, an incredibly low key local tour which done NOTHING to sell the album.. I mean why not just spend some money on promotion, get a little ratchet and curse out Future after delivering a song like I Bet.. EVERYONE expected her to open up a little and DELIVER not only musically but personality wise... Does she not have a publicist?? A manager? A Team? Where are they all?
How can Ashanti who is totally independent sell more albums from someone thats on a major label, fronted by LA REID.. Its mind boggling. Something is defo up behind the scenes, and i wouldn't be surprised if she is dropped tbh...
|
So are you frustrated that the album flopped or that the album isn't good?
Her audience don't know what they want. When she was giving slow jams they wanted uptempo pop songs, now she's giving uptempo pop songs they're acting like they wanted r&b slow jams from day 1...
That stupid TV show, tour, and campaigns are getting her more coins than she would've seen if her album went gold. You would probably do the same thing
feuding with 1 of urban radios biggest artists right now probably isn't a good idea.
-
This album was doomed the second they picked I bet as the lead single and we found out the album was pop...and when it was announced it would be coming out less than a month after we even knew it existed.
-
Yall better stop putting her being dropped/leaving the label into the universe
I would be here for her signing to solange's label and becoming an indie queen though

and who they are? 4 or 5 fans on Twitter? Fack them, every artist has the same problem, they can't please everyone, you have to be strict and know what you want as an artist
CiCi's extremely stubborn, she will make the same mistake over and over again till she prove people are wrong
I know the labels are really shady, but maybe Jive had good intentions because nothing really has changed since they released her (I'm talking about her music career)
She needs to pick pop or urban and stick with it for some time so she can rebuild her fanbase, urban radio is the only one who actually still supports her so yeah I will go with slow jams and uptempo r&b/hip hop songs but they have to/they NEED to sound CURRENT
as for Jackie, it's one of my fav CiCi's albums, but it's DATED AS HELL, DLWML and maybe Kiss & Tell are the only songs that sound current, 'Fly" sounds like something from 2003 <!!!!!!!!!> (mostly because of this overused sample), and basically every other song seems like it could be released like 4 years ago
and as for DLWML, Ciara hasn't really fight for the song, it's the label/Lisa who are booking her all these great deals (they have to since Ciara is 360 artist, right?), as I said before video with just Ciara dancing would be great, showing more love to the fans and encouraging them to request would be helpful too, I don't think her relationship with Russell motivates them and that's the only thing going on for her right now

I have no desire to know how many 'coins' she is making, she's not making those doing what she actually came into the industry doing. Its only hurting her dying image as an ARTIST.. and thats my problem...
I Bet was a perfect lead single, its the only single that actually made an impact. Instead of rush releasing the album based on its (minor) success, she should of delayed (or better yet never mentioned a date) and followed it up with DLWML and then Kiss & Tell as the third single (the only two songs worthy of there place on an album, along with the flaw free Only One) and actually recorded THE PERFECT follow up to the self titled. It showed Ciara what people are here for.
She just wasted a perfect opportunity and now she's back to square one... AGAIN. In fact she just had the worst opening numbers of her 11/12 year career, so id say she's worst than square one right now..
The rest of Jackie unfortunately sounds like a DESPERATE attempt to jump on the DEAD EDM scene which no one cares for anymore and came 4 years too late.. The R&B songs, other than the ones mentioned above are dated, boring and go absolutely nowhere (minus Bad Mutha****a - which is dope as hell, minus the stupid Jackie Intro) .. Give Me Love is dated despite actually being good..
Ciara's fans KNOW exactly what they want from Ciara.. You think those people that bought Promise, Ride, Like A Boy, 1,2 Step, Goodies, Oh etc.. actually want or are going to buy these dated as hell dance pop songs that doesn't really suit Ciara's image, nor her voice?? A few excited fans on twitter who THINK she should crossover and become a full on Popstar dont mean ****... Im not saying she cant deliver such songs - Overdose was PERFECT. It was pop while still having enough urban appeal to be appreciated.. Shame it was wasted. Just like 80% of Ciara's discography...
Im frustrated that i have been rooting and waiting for Ciara to truly show the world what she is capable of since the Fantasy Ride era, and EVERY single time she on the right track towards that, she releases the wrong single that kills an era, or she makes a full on pop album, led by a R&B single and pretty much kills her career doing so.. Its not the fans that are confused. Its her and her labels..

Ciara is not confused. Jackie is a cohesive album that many fans enjoy. I bought it and I dont stan Ciara at all although I do check for her. I honestly think Ciara's issue is that her promo is awful and ineffective. K. Michelle sells 400K of an album off of her personality, connection with her fans, and Twitter In order to slay in R&B today you have to make very emotive music that appeals to peoples hearts because lets be real, those people are the only people checking for R&B these days

I don't care about her coins either, my point is that she needs to make money somehow and being an artist isn't lucrative in 2015 unless you're doing Taylor swift numbers or using it to get endorsements on the side/touring.
Imo I Bet was a terrible lead single because it wasn't reflective of the albums sound as a whole. Yes it was successful and yes it is a good song but it did nothing for the album because everyone that went into the era expecting the album to sound like stuff that would compliment I Bet were turned off.
I think she needs to give up trying to have complete creative control over the music and let someone guide her because I find it hard to believe that her label didn't try as hard as possible to have her record an album full of body party and promises. Especially when she brought that sound back, and especially when urban was in this year.
I definitely think some of the stans, or at least fans, are confused with what they want. They went into this era wanting a bunch of songs like Overdose and Work and when she gave them that (dance-pop songs, a genre that even bigger names than her have been struggling to sell recently) they suddenly decided they wanted an urban follow-up.
Imo the album is good, it's just 4 years too late. GML could've been a huge hit around the time On The Floor was smashing. I'm sad that her eras never reach their full potential but I'm not frustrated about it because she always delivers in terms of quality. And as long as she does enough to get another album approved I'm not really bothered

I kinda agree with most of the things you said besides her career being in the same place as it was while on her old label. shes definitely more relevant musically now than she was back then, she may not be selling but people are checking for her music and it shows in her streaming and vevo views.
She should stick with urban, she doesn't seem fully committed enough to pop to take the risk and abandon her urban sound and you don't get far being safe with pop. Plus her urban songs are better, they're certainly more critically acclaimed that's for sure.

So, the updates have been bad for the past 3 days. All of the song's supporters (minus 2 small stations) are dropping it or not giving it any extra spins compared to last week. If we get 3 or 4 adds today (which is rather unlikely), the song can hang on for another week.
It's a shame cause it's one of her best singles and videos ever

Defo agree. She got it right with the perfect blend of R&B and pop.. its something you could expect from Michael or Janet Jackson.. BIG shame this just died. But tbh NOTHING could of revived this era.

The biggest mystery is why rhythmic radio didn't even touch it, other than a few small stations that couldn't even propel it to the top 50. The song (and Ciara herself) is tailor made for them.
I feel like she needs to do a huge radio tour next era to repair her relationship with them. Rhythmic has been snubbing her since Ride. They took MONTHS to support Body Party properly and even then, it barely reached #10.

Radio is not here for her like that and hasn't been since the Fantasy Ride era. Go Girl, Never Ever and Love Sex Magic was literally the last songs that got major play by big stations on initial release.
It's sad tbh

Cici needs to start her next era outside of the US tbh, especially since it's obvious she's kind of done with purely urban music.
So many smashes started out in Australia or the UK. I remember Blurred Lines blowing up everywhere before the US and then there's Rather Be, Latch and those other moderate hits too.
