Let's be real, we know that if Rated R was a huge success, she would have continued going in that direction and tried to maintain a certain level of artistic integrity.
But because it wasn't and dance pop was all the rage at the time, she let her label take full control of the album and her image and run with it. Just look at the damn video for Only Girl with her walking around fields of pretty flowers and compare it to what she was doing less than a year before that.
It's one of her best albums regardless, but still...
