The main reason that BANGERZ got big was Miley's controversy. Beginning with her VMA performance and following up to Wrecking Ball, she was everywhere because she kept being shocking and outrageous for the sake of being shocking and outrageous. It kept her singles afloat and her name out there, but Bangerz the album still flopped. And now that Miley isn't being scandalous, she's vanished from everyone's mind.

Is this a sign that she might flop next era? She certainly won't succeed in shocking the world again. People already know what to expect. And the fact that the controversy only turned singles into a hits while the album flopped suggests that her success was completely reliant on controversy, rather than people actually liking the music.

Miley is literally the creator of pop. Anything she releases will be flawless and even if for some ungodly reason she does "flop" it'll still make an impact on the music industry. Also, I can't stop laughing at the irony of a MADONNA stan having the nerve to say that Miley have run out of gimmicks. Have you watched the Bitch I'm Madonna Video. I did (Because Miley was in it), and I think it's safe to say that Madonna truly has nothing left to offer. Oop.

Miley has done well before without the controversy in her early solo days, in fact she's done better with her sales, and touring without controversy. She flopped with Cant Be Tamed and needed to reinvent and garner attention from the public again, hence the outrageous controversy. I think she will still sell the same as other pop girls, Ariana, Katy etc.. and do pretty well, but I dont think she will match the success and attention of Bangerz again. It was her Disney Girl gone Bad and now there's nothing left to shock.

If have said there was a chance she wouldn't if she did away with her pseudo-edgy obnoxiousness from the Bangerz era. But judging by her recent VMA promo spots she's back at that in full force and I can't say I see the shock factor working the second time around.
