She entered an argument thinking it was about one thing when it was about something completely different. I think ppl went a little too hard @ her, but imo she was in the wrong, and I'm proud she acknowledged that and apologized.
Taylor was replying to Nicki's tweets condemning "skinny girls" and talking about body type. Nicki didn't really start talking about race until after that. So at the time Taylor tweeted Nicki, the argument basically was about what Taylor thought it was. That's not to say that Her response wasn't problematic, though. And She shouldn't have had to apologize when Nicki is the one approving of her fans body shaming Taylor and calling Her a "c-word."
But this is all ridiculous and this is my last post about it. Yesterday's news needs to be yesterday's news.
I personally thought it was clear Nicki was talking about both body type AND race with her tweets about "other" "kinds" of girls getting nominated, but I can see why Taylor and others might've thought it was either one or the other. I don't think Nicki is 100% blame-free either. Her acting like she wasn't at least partially referring to Taylor with the "skinny girls" tweet was a bit dumb, and her fav'ing her fans shady tweets was kinda low too. Both of them were in the wrong in some way, and I hope Nicki apologizes too, but at least the main issue is resolved.
I'm glad Taylor apologized even though she didn't need to because she wasn't in the wrong. Nicki was placing her as this racist privileged ignorant white girl, so the best move was to just say sorry. If she ignored it, it would prove Nicki right to all the race baiters.
