Song I wrote, thoughts?
Go Boy
[Verse 1]
If I'm dawn, then you're dusk
Whenever days grow long, you're too far away to touch
While you're young and have time
You'll never be around in the summer of our lives
[Prechorus]
I know that if open up my arms
If I open up my heart
If I open up the door
You'll come back in with the cold
[Chorus]
I'm an Easy Come Girl
You're an Easy Go Boy
(Will you stay, will you go
That's what I wanna know, boy)
Bring the seasons in, boy
And roll right back out, boy
(Will you stay, will you go
The answer's easy: go, boy)
[Postchorus]
You drag yourself back in
Then you set out on your own, boy
The sun comes back again
Just as I say "welcome home", boy
"OK, have a nice life"
Always-on-the-go boy
(You Disaster Zone Boy
You Easy Go Boy, goodbye)
[Verse 2]
If I'm dawn, then you're dusk
Whenever days grow short, you come close enough to touch
When you're weak, out of time
You need someone to hold in the winter of your life
[Prechorus]
I know that if open up my arms
If I open up my heart
If I open up the door
You'll come back in with the cold
[Chorus]
I'm an Easy Come Girl
You're an Easy Go Boy
(Will you stay, will you go
That's what I wanna know, boy)
Bring the seasons in, boy
And roll right back out, boy
(Will you stay, will you go
The answer's easy: go, boy)
[Bridge]
You'll stumble back in with snow in your hair
Ice in your blood, frostbitten lips
Instead of sharing the good times you have
I'm the one that gets you like this
[Chorus]
I'm an Easy Come Girl
You're an Easy Go Boy
(Will you stay, will you go
That's what I wanna know, boy)
Bring the seasons in, boy
And roll right back out, boy
(Will you stay, will you go
The answer's easy: go, boy)
[Postchorus]
You drag yourself back in
Then you set out on your own, boy
The sun comes back again
Just as I say "welcome home", boy
"OK, have a nice life"
Always-on-the-go boy
"...Goodbye."
Background info after you read the song
So I wrote this because I liked the metaphor of two people being like dusk and dawn, similar yet complete opposites, beginning and end. Dusk and dawn become closer when the days grow shorter in the winter (The end of life and the darker times), and grow farther apart when the days become longer in the summer (The prime of our lives, youth, and the good times.) Science metaphors are cool.
