Finally got around to listening to Bonnie McKee's EP. It's a little bit of a let down considering some of the songs she's performed over the years have been so strong, and course the songs she's written with Katy have always been great, but I still really like it.
1. I Want It All - I can't help but think how much better this song would be had Kesha been singing it. Kesha just has a natural edge to her voice that Bonnie lacks which would have fit the rocky vibe of the song so much better. Like the entire song screams perfect Kesha comeback material. Kind of like Woo Hoo and Thinking Of You. But it's still good with Bonnie anyway. 8.5/10
2. Bombastic - Like everyone else, I wasn't sure if I liked the chorus much at first, as it's so scream-y. But I've listened to it so many times that it barely bothers me anymore. It's still a mad bop, the lyrics aren't the best, but they're not the worst either. It has a good message overall. The video is amazing. 8/10
3. Wasted Youth - I didn't really like this song that much. I didn't hate it, but compared to the amount of smashes we've already heard from Bonnie (Right Now, Forever 21, I Wanna Call You, Don't Get Mad Get Famous, Someone's Gonna Get Hurt etc.) it just doesn't stack up. It's pretty anthemic though, so I can see it being a grower. 6.5/10
4. Easy - I really liked this song. The "In The Air Tonight" influences are clear, but then again Greg Kurstin produced it (I think, he also produced "Love Into The Light" by Kesha, which is also influenced by this song), the melody is really nice, it's an easy-listening song, which is really clever given its title, and she's serving vocally. Definitely the standout track on the EP. 9/10
Overall: 8/10
