lol I've barely used Spotify at all. I only used it a couple of weeks ago to listen to Tove Styrke's new album because it had a Spotify bonus track and I couldn't be bothered downloading it.

I don't plan on using Apple Music though, either.

Oh, I just hit 33k. Not sure if that's a good thing, or if it's incredibly sad. Let me be happy anyway.

I never had Spotify Premium. I actually downloaded Spotify free a long time ago but I never use it. For whatever reason I just like buying things more, I think it's more exciting that way when you download something, it's almost like recreating that feeling of an artist you like releasing a single. I'm late to every party so I rarely experience that.

However I already use iTunes and Apple Music is just too convenient to pass up. I at least want to try it before I don't use it, and I have a feeling I'll be using it. The actual sales of music are sadly going to die. Not saying there's not profit elsewhere, but at this rate it's nonsensical to keep holding on when I wouldn't have any advantages from buying music on iTunes vs using Apple Music.

Hmm. I still buy music from my faves, but I use Spotify premium which is solid, but it does miss some things like the Halcyon bonus tracks, Bright Lights, Taylor's discog, and some obscure tracks. If Apple Music has the entire iTunes library on it, that will be hard to pass up though.

Apple Music is definitely convenient. If they get the scrobbles working (I'm sure this will happen eventually, hopefully sooner rather than later), I may consider using it. I mean, if it helps get the artists money and saves me the trouble of finding a good download, why not? Then the ones I really love I'll buy physicals of and rip .mp3s for my iTunes and iPod.

Totally unrelated to anything: Rachel Platten's EP was a genuinely nice surprise. "Fight Song" really is the worst song on the album. "Beating Me Up" is quite good, gives me Sia teas in parts.

Scrobbles are pretty important to me, even though my Last FM has been active for <10 days

I mean truly streaming does not give money to the artist, but neither do sales. But at least streaming is legal and showing the label that there's interest in these or those. Plus it's convenient and nicer than Spotify and I think it pays more(?).

Spotify really is such a rip off for artists, hopefully Taylor skull bashed Apple enough that they pay their dues.

I know it's "wrong" and generally frowned upon, but there are several reasons why I prefer illegal downloading to streaming (from a completely selfish consumer's POV).

I like owning my music. I set things up differently to most anyone else, such as having all artists listed in the artist field, none of this (feat. Juicy J) in the title mess. I need to have every song that was released on a particular record (i.e. all special edition bonus tracks) and sometimes there isn't one edition that has every single track. I don't like having "(Deluxe Version)" or whatever in the title of albums.

There are just a ton of things that I do which are different to streaming services and they not only annoy me, but would affect the way songs and albums are scrobbled. And I can't set Spotify tracks as my iPod alarm, so goodbye with that.

Okay but between this iOS update and Apple Music this is too much. I'm a kid in a candy store.

Scrobbling is somewhat working too for radio.
