Ok, this isn't really a defense of them but just a point to make about white straight guys like Jeff. There are many people who are white who just aren't attracted to anyone that's African American. It might have to be with the environment that they grew up, but most of the time, it's nothing to do with race. It's just that they're not really attracted to people that are of a specific race. A lot of people are like that with the many different ethnicities and races. For example, I have a friend who's a girl who is African American, but she's not attracted to other black people and rather likes the pure white guys (kinda like John lol). She has every right to like whatever type she wants, but it doesn't mean that she's against any race. Same with Jeff because he hasn't done anything that's seemingly race-fueled at all.
With Audrey, a lot of straight guys either can't admit that they'd be attracted to a transgender woman or just have no interest in being with someone that's transgender. It doesn't necessarily mean that they're transphobic IMO
