Discussion: Why Do Minorities Have Such A Low Collegiate Makeup?

Hello. Welcome to Daytime Discussions on ATRL. I'm your host, Giselle. Today, we're looking into public colleges and their demographics. We've conducted a study by looking at the two largest public schools to see the state of minorities. Let's take a look at the research.

Whites
R1D1 New England - 74%
R1D2 Mid-Atlantic - 56%

R2D4 West North Central - 74%

The West

What do these numbers tell us? What do they say? Why are minorities such low percentages? What does it say about the effect of Affirmative Action, which many conservatives are against?

I did the research myself. As stated in the OP, I looked at the student bodies at some of the biggest schools in each state.

except the quality of education in inner city schools with mostly black or hispanic students is nowhere near as good as that of suburban white schools

That source though..Just in my state, Texas i see just as many hispanics as white in classes. (source, me.. i can do that too) The trend is looking positive for Hispanic college enrollments too. Here is an actual source

All of my numbers came from statistics, provided to me by CollegeBoard.com. I simply compiled them. If you don't believe me, feel free to look at the percentages of minorities at the schools for yourselves.

Dont you think some people go to smaller colleges/ universities to save money. LIst all these supposed colleges that have such a low black/minorty makeup.. Also please indicate geographcial information as that too will have a determinating factor to your dismissive research.

Wouldn't it make sense for there to be less representatives from a minority since they are, you know, a minority? As in there are less of them in the general population.

This is clearly a thread meant to spark some sort of shady racist discussion, so don't play coy. There are other factors involved when it comes to other races attending colleges including social oppression, uneven distribution of educational opportunities, lack of economic resources, etc.

You're trying to interpret and analyze data from a site that you basically copy/pasted info from.

Like I said, I'd rather get a conclusion & analysis of this information from an actual statistician or at least someone that has taken an introductory statistics college course.
