THE SELF-PORTRAIT CHALLENGE

Self discovery is a long, complicated process and establishing our identity can often be tricky. That's why it takes a truly great artist to pull off a self portrait! The 4 legendary painters above made it. But can you do it?

You challenge this week is to write a song about YOU. Your song has to somehow embody your identity, your presence, your life. Tell us who you really are and what you represent, using your songwriting skills like the artists above used their canvas.

In order to help you, I have made a Spotify playlist of 15 songs from different genres that I think could be deemed self-portrait songs. The playlist is NOT part of the challenge nor will you be judged based on your song's resemblance to one of these 15 songs.

THE SELF PORTRAIT PLAYLIST

You can execute this task in various ways. Whether you want to do a full fledged autobiographical magnum opus or a simplistic, personal, meaningful song is up to you. But you have to be introspective and make us connect with your perception of yourself!

I think people knowing everyone's scores can have a negative effect of making people cocky or, conversely, making them feel bad about their writing, but there's a benefit of knowing your own score and how it changes week to week. Of course your rank changes, but depending on how everyone else does, that really isn't that accurate. Like Euphoria was #1 last week but could technically still have a higher score this week, though she'll never know. Scores are so essential in PH so it's interesting how this season has changed that up so much

I also just remembered that the other reason I like seeing scores is to see how my judging contribution impacts the final scores. For example, I gave inuborg a pretty high score (by my standards) and I know Tymps. gave him a great score, so I'd love to see his overall score to see how he got eliminated, you know.
