I love my song but I just don't think I put the essence of my word into it. I'm fine with whatever the result.

I'm back from the dead

Now that the rate's done for the day, I'm gonna finish up my paper and send it to my prof. If I finish at a reasonable time, I'll do my scores/hints tonight. If not, I'll do it first thing in the morning.

It's feedback. It's not something you're meant to appreciate, it's something you're meant to take. If you're in my top 10, you'll take the positive feedback. If you're not, you'll take the negative feedback.

By this logic, each of your entries are a #1 to you?

Basically haha. I'm ready either way. I've learnt a lot thanks to this tournament even if my entries so far haven't had great results. I never would have thought about meter and word stresses etc if I hadn't taken part and my poems would have continued to be a mess. At least by taking part, even if I go, I'll take some constructive criticism and will be able to improve my skills etc.

Btw, Fireflies slayed the comeback round and Trigger was a cute little hit, so you've had some good results

Which one was better though? . Fireflies was low key beautiful imo. It kind of had a hidden meaning of death which probably didn't come across well but I only had 24 hours, if I remember correctly haha. Trigger needs some work but I'm proud of it. And I love what I wrote this week tbh (whether the judges did is another story haha).

I'm in a much better head space than I was last week so I guess I'm just more nonchalant.

There's no point in sending it if you aren't aiming at number one.

This is true, but I feel great about my song and the direction I took it in. I'm allowed to be surprised if I'm dragged this week just like you're allowed to not like my material.

We'll see what happens tomorrow but this [imo] is my strongest entry yet.

Only aiming for #1's and being overly confident in your work can be a bad thing. Insecurity, while horrible, is often an artist's best attribute.

Very true and I can respect your reasoning. The miscommunication is where you're saying you need to be overly confident. Being cocky will lead to an inevitable downfall . I meant that you need to have faith in yourself, be optimistic, and hope for the best. We have 5 judges that will point out your weaknesses and where we are strongest (which they do every round). It's our job to work and send in a song written to our best ability and then some. That's my reasoning behind aiming for number one.

But having little to no faith in your song because one judge may not understand it is blasphemy.
