No it didn't. Elvis took two genres and combined them to create what was basically a prototype for future rock. He used blues which was a primarily black genre and combined it with bluegrass (a predominantly white genre) and the result was basically a completely new genre. And Elvis, his suits, his hair is the most iconic imagery in the music industry.
