I like "See You Again" and see it as worthy of it's #1 ranking, but I would still like to see "Uptown Funk" go to 69 cents across the board and release the remix for download and streaming at midnight Monday, and maybe even release it as a physical single. I'm not 100% sure UF would get back to #1, but it would boost sales back up some next week and as a result also boost UF's streaming. This song has already reached #1, so it's different than WIWYM.
I want to see another 7 to 7.5 million seller, and not have "Happy" be the last one. Also, I admit I'm not sure how labels lose money on discounting a download, since no physical product is produced, and at least in UF's case, no one is buying the parent album anyway.
Regardless of whether the label discounts UF, both BB and HDD reported yesterday that UF has not come close to the burnout levels that "Blurred Lines" had in 2013 and "Happy" had in 2014 at this point in their chart runs. Both of those songs also hit #1 in their eighth week, with BL's #1 stay two weeks less than UF and "Happy's" stay two weeks less than that. Considering how slowly those two songs fell despite so many people were sick of them, "Uptown Funk" should descend even more slowly.
