I love this. It's clearly white, but by looking through my fist I can make it look dark blue!

I honestly don't see how anyone sees white at ALL-- there is legitimate white (from a light in the background) in the photo that REACHES the dress, and the contrast alone should show that it's BLUE not white, even in the edited photo.

I actually see it as pretty much whichever one I want lol.

The IRL dress is blue and black but the white and gold illusion - which is perfectly valid since you're viewing it on a computer screen with limited capabilities - stems from the conditions under which the photo was taken and, as the OP states, your personal mood and conditions.

My perception of the dress happens to be balanced such that I can see both easily.

That is the original online stock photo of the dress. It's the same design, and there is no gold/white coloring option for the dress. Flash & poor overexposure on the photo leads to the weird gold tinge on the black parts, but there is no WHITE in the viral photo.

No one is trolling. The dress is black and blue in reality. But the pic is over exposed. And for whatever reason some people see it as overexposed (white/gold), and others see it how it is in reality (blue/black). But why do we see it differently?

its just that the colors produced in this image are apparently like on the very edge where it can either be perceived as blue/black or white/gold depending on the person and ambient lighting conditions

There is white all around the dress in the viral photo. COMPARE that to the color on the dress. Y'all are still saying it's white? You're saying the color of the dress is the same color as the space around it?
