Now that I'm about to finish my finals I got some time to keep up with some movies I wanted to watch

Boyhood: C+
Gone Girl: A

Today ill watch birdman and I see jennifer aniston remains a joke and unwanted

I did enjoy the movie and I find the whole project fascinating but the cliche storyline kinda cut it for me

Imagine if he did for Gaga what he did for Fagstin and brought us the early 00s Max Martin sound. The SLAY

Boyhood was average to bad. Literally the gimmick is the only thing you can appreciate in it. The only part of the movie where I actually felt compelled by my curiosity to watch it, was during the domestic violence scene. It wouldn't hurt them if they made the storyline interesting as the idea of a chronologically realistic movie.

okay I hereby retract all the mess I said about Chastain.

She is a deity in human form. Her speech @ the CC awards was phenomenal.

I put Boyhood in the same bracket as Gravity and Avatar.

for me it's just a stunt, if it wasn't shot over the course of twelve years, it would pass unnoticed, it defenitely doesn't deserve the best picture award only for that, since the cast played pretty averagely, Birdman ftw

Movies are subjective. Some can like Lucy, others (with brains) cannot. Fact is, films can often connect with us on a more nuanced level based on how our life is, how our current or past situation was.

Take Boyhood. Its premise centres on nostalgia and reliving those past experiences of your childhood that made you, you. Some people don't want that. They don't want to be nostalgic about the past because it just may not have been the best environment growing up or their childhood was plagued by unfulfilled expectations/demands.
