It's
far less likely. Roughly
one in five gay men in the US has HIV, and about 44% of them don't even know they have it. Compare that against the overall US incidence rate of
0.4%-0.9% and you'll see that's
ridiculously disproportionate.
I mean, they have to accept blood from
somebody, especially with such a shortage. There just comes a point where the risk is too high to accept a person's blood, and as far as risks go, it's pretty goddamn high among sexually active gay/bi men and other MSM groups.
But then this might all be moot if the testing is fairly accurate. As I said, I'm not really sure about that and I'm not coming up with any hard info on that.
