I was going to watch "Boyhood" this weekend. Not that I was excited to see it to begin with, but you comparing it to "The Tree of Life" really has me dreading this upcoming viewing. Guess I'll be sneaking in my Nintendo 3DS.

You have nothing to worry about. Boyhood feels like an antidote for The Tree of Life. It succeeds in every way Malick's movie fails. It's a one-of-a-kind experience by a writer and director who respects his audience enough not to waste their time on pretentious drivel that leaves them more exasperated than enthralled.

Just because you don't get Tree of Life, that doesn't mean you should direct your frustration on Malick. It's ok to be dumb, but it's not ok to deny it.
