I've been trying to find out what type of vocal type Rih falls under and I can't find anything consistent.

I've seen Contralto, Mezzo Soprano, Mezzo Soprano verging along Contralto.

And I even looked on wiki under the different types of female voices to see which Rih falls under.

Based on her range id venture to say she's a Dramatic Mezzo Soprano. She has a warm lower register. A strong middle register, and a clear upper register.

Good question. Her voice has a very unique sound for sure.

It's annoying because Rih usually stays away from anything higher than a C5 live. She use to hit higher notes back during 2005-2007 but I'm assuming that her voice maturing, and smoking has made her voice drop. This has also helped her develop a deeper lower register that she use to not even have earlier in her career.

I'm sure she could hit those notes again but I think she'd need heavy vocal lessons, and to not drink or smoke for a extended period of time.

I'd say mezzo soprano. Don't really study music so I don't know too much about it to accurately place her.

Lol this is random but : sometimes I wish she would get pregnant just so she would be forced to stop smoking so we could see what effect it would have on her voice.

Like I have a friend who sings and smokes weed daily and has a great voice but in Rih case it would be interesting to see of her voice changed naturally or if the weed did play a part.

I'm sure she's a mezzo soprano but probably either a Coloratura mezzo-soprano dramatic. although I'm inclined to think she could be a coloratura ONLY because that type of voice can reach high notes but are comfortable at the middle of their range than the top with a nice lower register and Rih can sing in pretty much that range.

I think she smokes a lot less lately because her voice sounds way more potent and clear live than it has in the last 4-5 years.

It's a miracle her voice has rebounded from the Rated R- TTT phase. Her voice deepened around the time and I suspect that it took time for her to adjust to singing with a deeper voice and with heavily smoking and drinking.

I think she was shooting something today.

Is she still in LA?

Yeah and if you look at Mel, Mel O, Yusef recent posts they are in a desert/ mountains area, somewhere in Cali.
