See the thing with Gaga is...IF she slays commercially again (which she will) the hype or the overhype, as you call it,will comeback bcoz....
She has a massive fanbase, who is patiently waiting for her to slay again so that they can grab the gorls by the roots.
Also, the media will praise her up & down to no end...thats a given.
So Gaga being commercially successful means there will be massive hype surrounding her.
How could she degrade so much?
