lol this happens year after year. "the grammys are such a joke!!!! they're gonna lose all credibility!!!'

The Grammy's have ALWAYS been a popularity contest. They air on the biggest network TV station....

Songs like "Roar" and "Shake It Off" - both of which are abysmal - getting general field noms is obviously vomit inducing (because the Grammys are saying that's the best quality the music industry offered us this year) but bland MOR ballads from the 90s used to always get general field noms. I think one of Celine's awful albums swept the general field one year, and all those songs were horrid.

BEYONCE is definitely winning AOTY, though. That would be a HUGE upset if she didn't. And if she didn't even get nominated....that doesn't even make sense.

Scammys is like that one uncle who keeps trying to be modern-&-cool but failing hard again and again. So pointless to broadcast a concert only to announce ONE category. What a waste of money & time.

Not really. Popular hits of the past = popular hits of now, in terms of quality. It's all the same ****, really.

It appears worse now because there is so much more music out there these days due to social media and the internet.

I hate the version with Mary. Anyway... I'd have no problem with Sam winning AOTY.

I don't know what's more depressing: the tepidly transgressive, petulant-child posturing of enfant terrible Lars von Trier in his two-part slog, or the critics who bent themselves into knots looking for a non-existent feminist subtext in the Danish auteur's art-house provocation. Then again, maybe it's just Shia LaBeouf's dodgy British accent. What I'm certain of is this: Nymphomaniac is, was, and shall always be pretentious hooey and hackwork.
