How did mediatraffic calculate global sales anyway? The only countries that release sales figures are the US, UK, Japan, and ocasionally Australia, Canada, Germany, France right?

edit: These markets are ~80% of the WW market so maybe he just divides the sum by 0.8 for the WW total

It means singles artists will appear to have higher album sales. It actually hurts artists like Pepcé who have no hits. So that's the one positive we can take from it.

I think every big market has a way to at least estimate the album sales. For smaller countries it's enough to assign sales to position, and then for countries with no charts you just add an overall percentage.
