So was DC ever considered a teen pop group? It seems to me that even though they came out around the same time as Britney, Xtina and NSync that they were taken more seriously.

Britney makes better overall albums than X and is more consistent, but X's highs in her discography are higher than Britney's (her quality highs being the singles from Stripped and the whole Back to Basics album).

I would even say I prefer Fighter and Dirrty over Toxic and Slave 4 U. All some of the best offerings of the 2000s, but X's voice takes hers to a complete other level.

But, like I said... my main issue with most of Christina's music has always been filler tracks on her albums. Britney/her management are *usually* better at sorting out filler, with the huge exceptions of Circus and Britney Jean.

My sister's taste tho. Had all the DC albums, N-Sync, Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera. She even got to see N-Sync, Britney, and Christina live. Ugh. The bitch.

Christina Aguilera has great lyrics, she has great vocals, but her problem is that overall, she has terrible productions. Exhibit A: "Ain't No Other Man." The vocal delivery was great. The lyrics were great. But the production was absolutely awful, as is 92% of the productions on "Back to Basics." "Back to Basics" was not a good album. The era was defined by an image and the only thing the general public remembers from the "Back to Basics" era is Christina Aguilera being a thin and pretty throwback... and maybe "Candyman." That's pretty much it.

It's all subjective I guess. Personally, I would rather listen to "Touch of My Hand" and "Get Naked" than Xtine's entire discog.

I prefer Britney's music overall.

I usually gravitate towards r&b/pop hybrid artists like Rihanna, Bey & recently Ariana to a degree, since I love both r&b & pop the most out of any genres.

Have u listened to Tinashe's album? It's a good blend of pop and urban and r&b. Ariana is trash... her voice is trash and her music is trash (except Love Me Harder, but that got old fast).

I always have Ariana's music on repeat, so she's doing something right for me.

Tinashe's album grew one me after a couple listens. I'm probably going to get it for Christmas or something. I'm conserving my iTunes money for Taylor and Nicki's albums + any future Fergie and Gwen singles before the year ends Her voice takes some getting used to, but overall great debut.

And then I loved Jhene's as well, and Chris Brown's X.

It's been a very good year for R&B, contrary to the lack of good pop releases.
