If we wanna talk song orderings that make no sense, let's talk about Sparks Fly --> Back To December --> Speak Now --> Dear John etc. SN is so sonically cohesive, but story-wise it's all over the place.

For the record, I tend to interpret SSS as happening mostly in her head. Especially since it's sandwiched between WANEGBT and TLT. She pretends like she's above it all on WANEGBT, then fantasizes how things could be different on SSS, but then reality sets in with The Last Time. Not sure if she has ever said anything to confirm/deny SSS happening in her head though.
