I truly think the power of social media has become so influential in politics and the way our society progresses. It's sad but it wasn't until tumblr started picking up and more minorities started sharing the truths about oppression, racism, sexism, etc. that everyone on FB, Buzzfeed, twitter etc started standing up to the oppression and the evil of our society.
A lot of people seem to think it's trendy, for example the label "Social Justice Warriors" but I believe it's the inevitable consequence of having a platform for millions of oppressed and victimized individuals to share what's wrong with society. I also think it's going to turn out to be a very important and vital tool in changing society for the better.
As far as anti-gun propaganda, it obviously helps that cause but I don't think there's a group of liberals sitting behind the desk of network executives and producers telling them to air more anti-gun propaganda. However, there are definitely politicians using these unfortunate events to their advantage.
