Well since these are all standards, reviewers will mainly be looking at Tony and Gaga's interpretations of these songs (their vocals esp., arrangement, and I guess how the track selection works together as a whole). This review did talk a good bit about Gaga and Tony's vocals. Whether or not you agree with her sentiments is a different story, of course.

Rather than highlight each other’s wildly distinguishing features, they merely settle on a quiet night at the local jazz club, where the background music is far more exciting than the people singing over it.

If im being totally honest here, I agree with all these comments on her delivery. I dont personally think she utilized her voice in the most effective way for this album and I don't think what we've heard so far is all that great. It pains me to say it considering even though I wasn't expecting to love this album I really did figure there'd be some usable material for me here but I mean whatever. And I think its such an obnoxious cliche to be that gaga fan that feels the need to say what shes done is disappointing but I do find this album to be lackluster even for what it is. Another cliche gaga related statement to make: im still looking forward to her next album.

Was this necessary? Not only are they wrong, but it has nothing to do with the music. Gaga has been working with Tony Bennett since 2012.. ARTPOP's underperformance has nothing to do with this project.
