OMG I just rewatched the 2005 VMA's... I miss those kind of shows... everybody used to attend, all the nominies. It was more interesting I think.

Nooo that's not true at all. With Thankful she had a boost with the Idol exposure, but after that era (the two singles after Miss Independent flopped), everybody was ready to write her off as a one hit wonder/talent show winner/not a real artist/etc. It was an uphill battle and she had a lot to prove, and she worked her ass off that era to prove herself as a real, legitimate artist. The "high of American Idol" only got her so far in her first era, she had to work hard in her second (which was truly her breakthrough era, considering she came into her own as an artist, broke away from the girl next door Idol image, and had tremendous success).

Anyway, the way she said "my VMA awards" was a bit odd but I don't think she meant any shade by it.

If that were the case, Thankful would have been a huge hit. Breakaway was successful because it catered to the audience of that time - pop rock/adult contemporary. "Since U Been Gone" was an excellent pop song, and that wasn't because of the AI high Kelly was riding.

Gwen sounds a bit bitter. She's now judging a reality TV show of the same nature to revitalize her career, so for her to act all high and mighty is a bit laughable and I like Gwen a lot.

What You Waiting For, Hollaback Girl, Luxurious & Cool all deserved video of the year, Love Angel Music Baby also deserved Album of The Year instead of NO2.

In 2005, yeah they were the superior combo. Max and Luke is not to mess with. But HG has a sound of 10s. Pharrell and ha never ending futuristic vision tbh.

Gwen is forgettable. That's why she's on the voice now. She can thank Kelly for making talent shows popular.
