No, not for Soko.
They watched the parody video because it was a parody of Miley's video and song.
And Anaconda's situation is slightly different than those two examples. It is a music video not an ad or a parody and there was hype for it due to the teaser. People who watched the music video were indeed going to see her dance on Drake, see her shake her ass, etc. You don't watch music videos for the music but instead for the visuals so...
Every artist uses gimmicks, guest appearances, and so on to grab people's attention. See Fancy paying homage to Clueless, Black Widow being Kill Bill-inspired, etc. Sorry, I don't mean to bring up Iggy vs. Nicki, those are just two of the first examples I thought of. Noted, though, the usage of gimmicks, guest appearances, etc. doesn't ensure that the music video will go viral.
Not a fan of your examples, but the last sentence does make sense and I understand what you mean. That's a great argument, but I honestly don't see Billboard ever doing anything like that.
You say 35 mil for Anaconda, 10 mil for Shake it Off. The difference is 25 mil. That's exactly what I said.
Hah. You're right, completely mis-read your post. Well at least that means that there was some logic to how I was working it out if we both came to the same conclusion, which is good I guess.
Well clearly Sam has missed out on SWM getting to no1. So unfair. Likewise with his album although theres still some hope there maybe given its staying power and low album sales generally.
Any real chance of Bang Bang going #1? Its selling more than AATB at the moment, but AATB is winning on radio. But Bang Bang should win in streaming, at least for this week, its a new Nicki/Ariana video and they both have hype at the moment
^ It really does have a chance. Tbh, from what I can see from very early estimates it's going to be a close fight next week between Taylor, Meghan, Bang Bang and maybe Anaconda
1. Shake It Off HOT SHOT DEBUT (22-26% of lead)
2. Anaconda +37
3. All About That Bass -1
4. Stay With Me -1
5. Rude -4
6. Break Free -2
7. Black Widow +1
8. Am I Wrong -2
9. Chandelier =
10. Boom Clap +1
11. Fancy -6
12. Bang Bang -2
13. Problem -6
14. Maps -2
15. Rather Be -1
16. Bailando -1
17. Latch -4
18. Don't Tell 'Em =
19. All Of Me -3
20. Shower -3
And I can't believe how really close points are on AIW/Chandelier and BC/Fancy/BB. Any of those songs can get the #10 spot

It will be an interesting week. All these new releases are making chart watch interesting again, with all those movements, up and downs in the positions

Taylor brought all this exciment back to the charts tbh. Oh and the premiere of all these music videos

If he wins big and performs at the Grammys I can see In The Lonely Hour going number 1.
Over on the Digital Songs chart, Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off" blasts in at No. 1, selling 544,000 downloads in its first week — the biggest sales week of 2014 and the fourth-largest debut week ever.
