If I remember correctly, she lost out to Alicia Keys, who "only" did 230k+ (but saw a similar amount second week), and she had a smash with "Fallin". There were plenty of weeks where the #1 and #2 albums didn't do huge numbers pre-"bad number days".



"We Need a Resolution" is amazing, but it was very odd for radio. "Loose Rap" was definitely a missed opportunity for obvious reasons.

She wasn't a "flop", I guess that's a wrong word to use. Although she wasn't that huge either. Beyonce would still be where she is right now even if Aaliyah was still alive.

That doesn't refute my point that people are wrong that every week the #1 or #2 album was selling a gazillion copies, when it was mainly the Christmas season and huge release weeks like any other time.
