It's about time. It was a great show from '99 to '04 or so. After that it became nothing but mostly hip hop and really weak pop songs. There were no storylines either.
TRL was like a story back in the early days. You had Backstreet Boys and N*Sync dominating for years. Then you would have other boy bands like BBMak, O-Town and soulDecision etc. try to pass those Goliaths. Then you had the rock genre with Korn, Limp Bizkit and later POD trying to knock them off the top and they all did it quite a few times. And the Pop genre of Britney and Christina.
When Backstreet Boys or N*Sync would somehow not be #1 you could feel the gasps through the crowd. It was like a monumental thing lol.
Great show back in the day. Embarrassing is what it turned into. My #1 video all-time (not my favorite but just what I think is deserving) would be Backstreet Boys "All I Have To Give." Loved the show but thank god it's over.
What a show, what a send off.... if they added anything more, the show would've definately crossed into 4-5-6 hour run-time territory....
Unless they bring it all back in some way ... I guess I'll return to watching Last Call and keeping a google-eye out for the other VJs with their projects + hosting gigs.
Thank you and best of life Total Request Live!
**major hug**
I'm so gonna miss the show. All the performances, the videos that I loved and discovered because of it, plus the stage, which I wish I was there watching the show live.
