I love Gaga's looks and fashion for her Born This Way album (which was, for the most part, very well done and professional) but practically none of that translated over into the visuals of her music videos and imagery. She could have done way more with what she had. She made such powerful outfits and looks seem like a cheap sort of dress up for the music videos that they were supposed to represent.
She's not very coherent, that's her problem. She spews a bunch of ideas and concepts all over the place and calls it art.
Surprisingly, the Do What U Want video looks gorgeous but we will likely never get it because she loves taking things too far far too often. I don't even understand the mess she was trying to tell us with Alejandro. It was something about the gays or something like that right?
