This is not meant as a shady thread, I'm just curious. We level these two popstars as equals yet why has Katy this era dwarfed Gaga in:

- video views (2 videos with over 400m views compare to however little views Applause has in comparison)
- single sales (self explanatory)
- album sales (prism is outselling ARTPOP every week and is at 3m whereas ARTPOP is at 1.7m)
- touring
- awards

Why? I'm confused :s

Cause Gaga is having a slight underperformance. At the end of the day, Katy will never touch Gaga's career and anything she's accomplished. Hold on to your temporary receipts. She'd need to have two more Teenage Dream sized album sales to touch what Gaga has accomplished now. And that's without Gaga releasing anymore albums.

Just a little hypothetical situation , won't even get into tour gross, net worth or awards.

One is currently more popular than the other.

Because Gaga's music stoped being appealing to the masses.

A long lavish career with many iconic singles > an explosive 2 year peak

My opinion anyway.

Because she's a brunette.

In b4 monsters come in talking about 'impact'

Because everybody is tired of Gaga, even some of her fans.

I said almost every field

Talent is subjective anyway (like how the critics preferred Katy's iTunes festival set over Gaga's)

but does she beat her in the ART field?

Better musician, better music, better human being, more funny, more pretty, more loved, more talented.

That's why.

Her music is better. That's all there is to it.

It's all Gaga tbh

she hasn't sold as many albums as gaga, hasn't grossed as much tour revenue as gaga, and hasn't been awarded as much as gaga. one underperforming album does not erase all that gaga has accomplished so far. y'all need to get it together

I don't find katy completely unbearable but y'all are trying to make it seem like she's surpassed gaga as a whole when she really has not
