The Ashanti example is not a good showing of dance in any way whatsoever, but it certainly is an example of a popstar doing street-style choreography. But I do agree that Ciara brought a roughness that was not there (in dance moves at least, her voice has always been soft and smooth).

By the way, I am a fan of Ciara's. I have been since Goodies.

Yeah in terms of her voice she was like an Aaliyah, Janet esque type but over the years her vocals have grown a lot, especially during the 'Ciara' era.

of course she didn't invent anything but also didn't popularise anything. all the videos i posted here all prove that street dance or hip-hop had been popular in pop scene even before Ciara made her debut. right after everyone was proving that there're many famale artists did twerking before her , you changed the title to street dancing then lol. And again she's not popularizing street dancing among any pop girl because none of them ( beyonce, gaga, katy, rihanna the major pop girls ) does what she does in their video or on stage. Miley and Rihanna only did twerk dancing, not all the things Ciara did however Ciara didn't even popularize twerking. so your thread didn't even make any sense from the begining lol
but i guess the validation doesn't exist in your Ciara World, i'd better leave your world

ONCE again we're talking among WOMEN in the R&B/pop categories. I'm not talking about street dancing just in general. The examples you provided aren't valid to the topic because of that. And I've provided plenty of examples as how she popularized it. The matrix move being an example. Which Beyonce and many other other singers have borrowed for the performances and videos.

We all understand this. We understand you made the thread about women in R&B and pop only. However you're stacking the cards in your favour to get the result you want and it's only more apparent the more times people bring up examples of street dancing in popular culture, even if they are not in the realm of female R&B and pop.
