Charli XCX Covers Rolling Stone Magazine

Charli XCX. 21 years old, nearly 22. It seems like she's been everywhere those past few weeks, promoting her brand new singles and her new album 'Devour My Heart'. But really, how well do we know her? People don't really know what she's been going through and how hard she's worked, they just are seeing the final result. She walked in into our studios earlier this month, to make the cover of this month's issue which dedicated to her and to answer a few questions for the interview. Here's an excerpt of the interview:
Well first of all we would like you to present yourself, all the basics we need to know about you
Well I'm Charlotte Emma Aitchison, was born on the second of August 1992 which means I'm 21 right now But not for too long anymore, I'm more known under my stage name Charli XCX. I just added the XCX when I was about 14 to make it look cool, but I like to say that it means 'X Rated Content'. I've been singing at venues since I'm 14, I've recorded a few album of 14 songs in an album that I called 14 which was never released, my debut album 'True Romance' was released in april 2013 and my sophomore album 'True Romance' is out now.
So the XCX was made to make you look cooler but how did you get the Idea to have 'Charli XCX'?
Well While I was writing my own songs at 14, I didn't want people to call me Charlotte Aitchison, isn't that such an odd name? I chose to keep the Charlote as 'Charli', and i searched for something that could be similar to Aitchison. Now that I'm thinking about it, 'XCX' doesn't sound the same but yeah i had a crazy mind back then.
You've been in the Underground club scene for years now, you used to perform crazy shows and you kept a certain amount of insanity from them now, how do you get the ideas for your shows?
Well I just think about the songs, really I ask myself "What would go well with that song" and I just start writing down Ideas... I love drawing some stages and props and see how they could look in real life. Besides my current management team is amazing they help well in the creation of the shows.
You have such a certain type of outfits that sort of represent you... the buffalo boots, the kind of 'emo girl at a rave' type of look'... did you always dress like that?
To a certain level, Yes. I always had some impressive boots, and some crazy suits. I really like the 'emo girl at a rave' sort of look a lot and I've been doing different versions of it since i was like... 12 or so. I used to get bits and pieces of outfits everywhere and start assembling them to make things look great.
You are currently working with The Blonds, you are going to appear at their fashion show soon to perform a series of songs who got the 'idea' of working together? You're not even blond!
Well their designer was in a vinyl store and he managed to find 'True Romance' on vinyl. He got interested in my type of music and wanted to use it at their shows and we decided to meet up, I wore a dirty blond wig and he thought that it actually fits me so he decided to offer me the position as the new face of the blonds, without me even being blond!
The Tokyo Lights Tour has been selling amazingly well, when did your label and you decided it was time to go back on tour, and this one would be a stadium tour?
Well I really wanted to tour, I always tour from time to time, it was in small venues though. When I asked my label about a tour, they immediately agreed, and since they've seen how well I've been doing lately and because of Beyonce, Jay-Z & Kanye West funding a tour thanks to their new album they had enough resources to make me go on a stadium tour, I immediately accepted!
You've worked with many different artists so far, Iggy Azalea, Icona Pop, Taylor Swift, Zendaya, Marina & the Diamonds and finally Sky Ferreira, do you ask them to work with you or how does it goes?
well it depends, for example Iggy Azalea's label asked me If I could write a Chorus for the song 'Leave It' and it became Fancy, I wrote 'I Love It' and Icona Pop was interested so I sold it to them, Taylor swift had just met me to write some songs we ended up working on 'Minds interrupted', Zendaya just asked to use one of my old demos and I agreed. Marina had a similar situation to the Taylor Swift one, we just were hanging out and we wanted to work again so we decided to do 'Damn You'. And I always have loved Sky so I was actually writing 'Hooked On It' the day she was in the same studio. It really fits her voice so I asked her about it and she agreed!
How do you feel about Producing your own music?
Even though it's such an amazing experience tow rite, produce and sing your own song, I resally prefer working with other producers since it mixes the ideas of different people which makes something completely original.
Is there anyone you would like to work with?
Rita Ora or Azealia Banks. But there's also this well amazing ex-band which is composed of one person only now, it's Kitten. They used to be like 4 guys and Chloe the lead singer but Now it's just Chloe so she took the stage name KITTEN. I really love their Sky Ferreira type of music which combines 80s Pop/Rock with Synth-Pop. 'Like a stranger' and 'Sensible' are masterpieces. Also Britney Spears, she's really amazing!
After this meeting she agreed to sing acoustic versions of her songs in our personal stage along with her band. she performed 'Stay Away', 'Tokyo Lights', 'SuperLove', 'Devour My Heart', 'Out Of My Control', 'My Shadow' and finally 'You're the One' and 'Alone in the dark'. Th videos of the performances can be watched on our website and on our Youtube channel here.
'Alone in the Dark' and her album 'Devour My Heart' is now available for purchase digitally and physically at any retailer.

The crowd at last night's #FREETHENIPPLE convention was insane. Fans cheered immensely for the opening act Ellie Goulding, and got even louder for Rita Ora. The show took place at the Bayside Expo Center in Boston, Massachusetts and celebrities began arriving at 6pm ahead of the 7:30 show. As fans and paparazzi eagerly awaited the celebs arrival, they cheered as they waited. First to arrive was the Orange is The New Black cast. They were all styled in corresponding Jean Paul Gaultier gowns. They posed for pictures, and after greeting their vans went to the VIP lounge to get a seat before the show began. Next to arrive was Ellie Goulding. She arrived in a pink form-fitting Miu Miu jumpsuit complete with black Miu Miu pumps. She signed autographes, and posed for pictures for the paparazzi. Before going to the lounge, she sang a little a cappella of a song from her album. Last but certainly not the least, was Ms Ora herself. Despite garnering controversy for her sheer crop top two days ago, Rita was not one to shy away from what she felt passionate about. Today she was dressed in a white, long dress with a see-through lace over her boobs. The dress was off-the-runway Basil Soda, and she matched the look with minimal makeup and a light pink lip. After talking with different interviewers and quickly meeting fans, she went into the lounge to prepare of her set.
First to the stage, was Ellie Goulding. Ellie Goulding (also known as this generation's Mother Teresa) is known for her charitable work. She just finished a concert that raised 200,000$ for homeless people and now she's here to perform a few songs for the #FreeTheNipple event. The lights lit up as Ellie Goulding entered the stage. The live band started playing her hit single Asleep and the crowd sang along. The choreography that Ellie did with her dancers was very complicated and you could see how tired Ellie was when the song finished. She drank some water and continued singing. The audience recognised a lot of her old songs and sang along. All of her music videos were played on a big screen behind her as she sang. When she finished, she thanked the crowd and before exiting off the stage, took a selfie with them.
As Ellie left, a soft instrumental track began to play. As a few seconds went by, the instrumental got louder and louder and the crowd began to notice it. The bass throbbed and suddenly the beat dropped and the stage was light up with fire pyrotechnics. Rita sprung into the air as the trapdoor beneath the stage pushed her up, and she just stood there as the crowd cheered and went crazy. The instrumental kept playing and Rita yelled, "WHO'S READY TO HAVE A GOOD TIME." Everyone in the crowd yelled back, "I AM," and Rita began to sing "Fire Starter." At the chorus, a group of eight male dancers surrounded her and began marching in place as the buildup to the beat began. The beat dropped and the dancers broke into more complex choreography moving certain parts of their body along to the beat. Rita jumped and flung her hair about and her fans joined in with her. After "Fire Starter", she performed covers of her favorite songs before launching into an acoustic version of "Losing Me". The chorus was the loudest part of the song as everyone in the crowd sang along with her. When she finished, she said, "I have one more song for y'all, and it's a new track called Impulse to Soar. Hope you like it." The song was charged with orchestral strings and had short dramatic quotes from movies. Fans screamed as they heard a popular scene from Romeo & Juliet during the bridge. When the song ended, the audience throughout the arena erupted into cheers for Rita and gave her a standing ovation. She thanked them and exited off stage.

MTV Video Music Awards Japan
('Loverboy' performance + Award Wins)
Taylor Swift has been all over the globe promoting her latest musical projects. From singles like 'Psycho', 'Gunshots, and most recently 'Loverboy' (+ that pesky Coven 13 extended play that made **** confusing) there seems to be nowhere the American popstar (also singer-songwriter) hasn't been promoting the projects. Asia, North America, Europe, and Australia, the singer's been to every television show, every radio show you can think of to promote the single. Perhaps the most intensive or brutal promotion schedule Taylor Swift has been on is the one for her latest number one single 'Gunshots' which Taylor featured on for Zendaya, a pop starlet who is traded in and out every week for another Republic Records artist. "Working and promoting with Zendaya was one of the best experiences I've had not only in my career but my entire life. She's so fun and care free to be around. She's not insecure at all and she's just wide open. She's at time the polar opposite of me. So when we're together she sort of brings out a different side of me. I remember one time actually where we'd just finished a radio interview promoting 'Gunshots' and there were like three cute boys watching us get ice cream from inside. I sort of made googly eyes at them like a total idiot but she got her ice cream, went up, and had a seat with them. I was kind of left hanging a bit awkwardly until she gestured for me to come over and sit with them. She's fearless. The true definition of fearless. She also has a very hardworking work ethic and is just professional all around. I think she has the talent and ability to become a legend in the music industry. Yeah sure it's going to be a hell of a lot of work for someone her age to do, and she has plenty of time as well, so I think she can really pull it off and leave a lasting mark on the music industry. She just has to release the right material and give it her all. So far she's doing an absolutely amazing job at doing that. I hope she stays as grounded as she is now as well. I don't think she'll fall victim to the fame, all of the riches, and stuff that comes with it too." Taylor Swift spoke to Entertainment Weeky earlier this week also as promotion for her latest projects. Miss America's Sweetheart seems to be somewhere new every day as she was this evening when she arrived in Tokyo, Japan for a special performance at the MTV Video Music Awards in Japan. Taylor Swift took home multiple video awards, including one for best pop video, along with the highest honor of the night, 'Video of The Year' for 'Gunshots' which has become the biggest hit for a Western act in years, surpassing Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way' and Taylor's very own 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together. "Well isn't g ohis a pleasant surprise. Gosh, oh wow, what to say… Uh first I want to say thank you to the writer, producer, and director of the video…. me. *laughs* In all seriousness I want to thank Zendaya for letting me apart of such an amazing song with a powerful and just breathtaking message. A special thanks to Tigerlily Recordings and Republic Records for helping Zendaya and I make this collaboration the best and biggest it could possibly be. We couldn't have done anything without your coins. We really appreciate it. And also I would love to thank my wonderful management team, Tigerlily Management. You guys simply do the best of making sure I do what's best for me. All the bookings, all the people you've caught trying to con me, all the times you looked out for me and helped me choose what was best for me. I want you know on behalf of Eric, Leona, and I that we simply adore and cherish you. You're beautiful. Lastly, I would love to thank the beautiful fans of Zendaya and I who voted for this award. I'm completely speechless. You're all so beautiful and I'm eternally so grateful or what you've bestowed upon me tonight. I love you Japan. Thank you." Taylor Swift thanked the audience in the Tokyo Dome, a venue she'd just sold out twice less than two weeks ago. Lastly, Taylor Swift performed her single 'Loverboy' for the audience. Swift wore a Giorgio Armani top and pants, similar to the one she wore on Jimmy Kimmel except it was black. With some black Stella McCartney heels, Taylor Swift took to the stage. The performance started off with a disco ball that began descending from the ceiling of the venue. The audience roared when it rotated open revealing Swift who stood in front of it. Dancers awaited for her Taylor on the stage, many of them shirtless males. There was silence as Taylor stared out, letting the audience scream for her. The music hit as she began playing the first verse, doing some movements along with the beat. During the bridge of the song she kissed one of her dancers passionately with a smirk before she pushed him away teasingly. She did some vocalizations before she hit one of her best high notes, finishing off the performance with a ending that was full of spectacular vocals. The performance kept 'Loverboy' at the top on iTunes Japan and did help boost physical single sales in Japan.

Charli XCX Performs on The Johnathan Ross Show

Charli XCX is currently in her Homecountry the UK for the promotion of her last single 'Alone in the Dark' along with the promotion of her album 'Devour My Heart' which is predicted to debut in the Top 3 and be Charli XCX's highest debut ever. Wearing a red leotard with black ripped see through leotard over it and a black cross sign along with big buffalo boots, Charli XCX entered the studio to sit down for the intevriew while crowd went insane.
Welcome here!
Thank you! Those angels really are excited to see me!
so tell me Charli, I can call you Charli right? you've started in the underground club scene when you were 14 we all know that, but weren't you a little bit too young to perform at such venues?
Well yeah since some people can really be scary, My mom was kind of worried something would happen to me but my family has always been supportive about me doing some music that I like so it all went well really.
Which one of your albums do you prefer? True Romance or Devour My heart?
Now... that's a hard question. I don't really know, I don't usually like ranking my music, especially albums as a whole. It depends on my mood I guess, both are very special to me.
Your music is a mix of Alternative and Pop music, especially in 'Devour My Heart', have you always been doing that?
Well I always incorporated electronic sounds with my music, at some point it was also very acoustic while keeping a electronic vibe. My music changes but doesn't changes at the same time if you see what I mean.
When did you start writing music?
Well I started at around 11 I think.. yeah 11. I wrote some random lyrics here and there, but I really started writing full songs was when I turned 13.
Why did you start? did something push you to start?
No not really, One day I just rhymed to sentences and I find it interesting to rhyme sentences. I started writing that way, as a game. Look where this game brought me!
[...]
After the intevriew, Charli XCX performed her collaboration with Marina and the Diamonds 'Damn You' for the first time along with her last hit single 'Alone in the Dark'. She wore a white leather jacket along with a black punk dress and combat boots. When the 'Damn You' started, she did a few dance moves before singing the lyrcis. Three female dancers were behind her on the set which was set up to look a old abandoned bus. Charli danced around the seats and kept her voice impressive. Charli sang Marina's parts during the performance. 'Damn You' wasn't completely done when Charli started to sing 'Alone in the Dark'. The crowd started to scream even more after they started to hear the recognizable 'Alone in the Dark' beat. 'Damn You' is a song that features Charli which is available on Marina's brand new album and 'Alone in the Dark' is now available for purchase.

Azealia Banks and Kesha working together?
‘Beautiful Mess’ hitmaker Kesha has apparently worked with female rapper Azealia Banks, if we may believe hit-producer Diplo, who claims he has worked with both Azealia and Kesha on one track.

Diplo claims he has worked with both Azealia and Kesha on one track
In a radio interview Diplo was asked about upcoming tracks and he told us: “I’ve just recorded a dope track with Kesha and Azealia Banks. It’s a tune and something nobody has heard before. I feel like this song could be Kesha’s 5th #1.”
When asked about the song itself he answered: “I can’t say anything about it yet, all I know is that it’s a collab between the pair and that they have amazing chemistry on the track. Azealia’s raps and Kesha’s chanting voice blend so well together”.
Well Diplo surely got us excited with this. Kesha and Azealia could neither confirm or deny the existence of the track, which sparks rumours that it could possibly be Kesha’s next single, which is due real soon.
Kesha's new single, 'Beautiful Mess', and it’s official remixes are out now on Itunes, Amazon and Spotify.

Kesha performs at World Cup Finale Halftime Beach Show
Kesha has performed a 4-song set during the 2014 World Cup final between Germany and Argentina. Germany went on to win the whole thing in the last few minutes by a goal from Götze, but Kesha had already left for Australia by then.

Kesha performed in front of a packed Rio Beach.
The 27-year old travelled back to Brazil from her Australian promo tour to perform for the fans that failed to grab a ticket for the final.
The Rio beach was packed with fans that were watching the game on big screens. As Kesha took the stage, the screens flashed to show her face on the screen, with the “halftime action” in the stadium as a small extra screen in the right corner.
Kesha first performed her hit single ‘Beautiful Mess’ in front of the masses of Rio, along with the usual choreography and flawless vocals. The audience were ecstatic as Kesha concluded the song and immediately went on to perform her 2012 hit ‘Die Young’, followed by amazing renditions of ‘Tik Tok’ and Rihanna’s Medusa, a track Kesha has spoken her admiration for several times.
Kesha concluded her performance by wishing both countries good luck and thanking the audience for their warm welcome. Kesha received a standing ovation and many cheers and screams as she left the stage to head back to Australia.
Kesha's new single, 'Beautiful Mess', and it’s official remixes are out now on Itunes, Amazon and Spotify.

Kesha visits KISS FM Australia, confirms new single.
Kesha Rose Sebert has visited Australia’s very own KISS FM for an interview and performance. Kesha started her appearance with an acoustic rendition of Azealia Banks’ #1 single Vibes. The singer didn’t rap the song, but turned it into a full grown ballad and gave the song a new dimension.

Kesha confirmed her next single to be called Exorcism.
Kesha then got out of the Live Booth and spoke with the DJ’s for a while.
In the interview Kesha confirmed she and Hunger Games star were in an official relationship, but admitted that she’s not so comfortable with the idea of Jennifer Lawrence kissing her boyfriend saying “I’d fall for her too if I was a guy, but I trust Josh, although I’m not too happy about having to watch it” *laughs*.
Regarding her new music, Kesha confirmed rumours about her next single. The song will be called Excorcism and is produced by hit-producer Diplo. It features trap elements, while still sounding like a pop song. When asked about Azealia on the track, Kesha started iggling and told us she couldn't say anything yet, as different approaches are currently discussed.
Kesha also performed her 1st single ‘Beautiful Mess’ in an acoustic way, as is available on the official remix EP for ‘Beautiful Mess’. The 27-year old’s vocals sounded great as ever and she is surely to be regarded as one of the most talented vocalists.
Kesha's new single, 'Beautiful Mess', and it’s official remixes are out now on Itunes, Amazon and Spotify.

Following a packed crowd at the Bayside Expo Center in Boston, Massachusetts, Rita boarded a plane and flew all the way to NYC for her second #FREETHENIPPLE convention of the night. The second show was being held at Madison Square Garden and was to begin at 8pm. The first convention finished 8:45pm and she spent 2 hours in the air on the way to New York. She missed the pink carpet, but managed to arrive just as Christina began her set.
Aguilera, who is a known influential figure for feminism and social equality, took to the stage after being met with a roaring reception from the crowd. In light of the release of her 8th studio album, just a few days ago - "Pandora's Box" - the 'voice of our generation' performed some new, raw material whilst still sticking with Christina's usual string of timelessly classic hits. Xtina started out with a show-stopping melody of I Hate Boys and Let Them Eat Cake from 2010's "Bionic" and 2014's "Pandora's Box", respectively. The mother of two experienced many wardrobe changes and, throughout the show, Aguilera wore various ensembles in the style of Christian Dior. Afterwards, she delved into a more urbanised vibe as Christina performed "Can't Hold Us Down (feat. Lil' Kim)" and reggae-infused track "Spitfire (feat. Azealia Banks)" from 2002's "Stripped" and 2014's "Pandora's Box". In actual fact, "Spitfire" is Aguilera's second and current single from her freshly-released record "Pandora's Box". So anyways, the ravishing setlist then started to wrap up as Christina expressed her views (through an impromptu speech) on being comfortable in her own skin, especially as a woman, and how important self-worth truly is. She concluded with "Beautiful" from 2002's "Stripped" with a gospel-inspired rendition of the iconic signature hit empowerment anthem. Aguilera was audaciously honoured to be able to take part in an event that has such a special message dearly close to her heart, with fellow women who feel the same way.
Rita got on stage immediately following Christina, and the crowd was clearly hyped for her set. Before performing, she delivered a 10 minute speech to the crowd, who listened to her carefully and even cheered at certain parts of her talk. She addressed the double standards of the industry in the sense that men can show skin and get away with it, but when's it's a woman, they're called "****s" or even worse. Riding off the momentum of her speech, Rita gave a heartfelt, and slower tempo rendition of her hit song, "Losing Me". During the performance, she got off stage and walked among the audience, singing to little girls she saw in the crowd. She changed the lyrics and substituted ones of encouragement to those in the crowd. She switched up the mood, and performed her fiery urban hit "Fire Catcher" followed by the orchestral masterpiece "Impulse to Soar". She covered Marina's "Where the Diamonds Grow' and briefly sang the chorus of Britney's new single, Touchin' Me, a cappella. When she finished she thanked the crowd, who begged her for an encore. She agreed, and performed the Dave Aud Remix of "Losing Me" and exited.

Ellie Goulding on Dancing With The Stars (300+)
Ellie Goulding performed her new single Asleep on Dancing With The Stars on
Wednesday. The breathtaking dancing and brilliant vocals are what made this
Ellie's best performance. We also got to ask Ellie a few questions before
the performance.
Q: Ellie, what makes this performance different from any other performance
of your new single Asleep?
A: I've been preparing for this performance for a few days. The choreography
is really complicated and like nothing I've ever done before.
Q: Do you think you can pull it off?
A: I really think that I can. I did really bad on the first two days of training
but really improved so I think I'm ready!
Q: Are you a fan of the show?
A: Yeah I watch it every week. I've been watching it for a few years now.
Q: I wish you good luck on this performance and it's a pleasure having a talented
person like you on the show.
A: Thanks!
The stage was a circle lit up by neon lights coming from the ground and big lamps
on the ceiling. The judges were sitting at the side and Ellie came out from the back.
She was wearing really comfortable black shoes, tight pants and, a white t-shirt and
a blue jacket. A dancers appeared beside Ellie and they started dancing together. The
choreography was slow at first and Ellie mostly focused on singing but as soon as the
chorus started, Ellie stopped singing and concentrated on the dancing. The dancer grabbed
her hips and lifted her up, he threw her up and she turned around. He held her hands as
she slid underneath his legs. She was now behind him. He took on of her hands and twirled
her around. Ellie had never done this type of choreography before, she should definitely
do it more often. Buy her new single on iTunes!

Kesha visits Triple J
Kesha has visited Aussie radio station Triple J as part of her Australian promo tour today.
The 27-year old joined the DJ’s in the Live Lounge as she performed 3 acoustic songs.

Kesha joined the Triple J DJ’s for an acoustic set
Kesha started her set off with ‘Beautiful Mess’, which she is currently actively promoting and is nearing platinum status as we speak.
Kesha also performed 2 covers, one which was Rihanna’s ‘Medusa’ and the other one was Azealia Banks’ ‘Vibes’. Kesha is rumoured to have worked with Azealia on her second single, which she has neither denied or confirmed yet.
The DJ crew also asked Kesha about future promotion plans. Kesha confirmed she was heading off to Europe in a few days, starting with #FreeTheNipple on the 17th of July. Kesha has always been a promoter of freedom and freeing the nipple is just one part of that. She feels as if women around the world aren't treated like they should and can't make their own choices on how to wear and act. With #FreeTheNipple Kesha hopes to raise awareness for this.
The 27-year old also confirmed she signed with Beachmasters to join their Spanish Party Tour. The holiday planner is one of the biggest party holiday supplier and throws huge parties on the beaches and clubs of the Spanish party towns. Kesha, along with a few others, will be joining and performing at various locations, such as Lloret de Mar, Ibiza, Magaluf and Barcelona
Kesha's new single, 'Beautiful Mess', is out now on Itunes, Amazon and physical copies are available at your local supermarket.
