Apple and Zedd resolve their differences; contract had ended; songs coming back to iTunes
After closer review of the contract, both the the teams of Zedd and Apple have reached the conclusion that the contract had, in fact, already ended and Zedd was right to seek out other promotional deals. As a result, both parties have resolved their differences, meaning the Applegate scandal has ended.
Apple stated: "We are very sorry that this mistake occurred. We thought that Zedd had broken our contract together by signing on other promotional opportunities without telling us, and with competing companies. We had to protect our bottom line, but it turns out we did not need to. Therefore, we apologize, and we are putting all of Zedd's songs, including ones he produced for other artists, back on the iTunes store. We apologize for the inconvenience, and to make it up to you, we're discounting Zedd's new single "Temple" for 69 cents! We will pay for the extra cost of the single ourselves. We hope you all do business with us in the future."
Zedd's team has not released a statement. They tell us to refer to Apple's statement.
"Temple" is the second single from Zedd's sophomore album Serenity.
