Fem men and butch women do get some...interesting comments here. It is no secret that a lot of gay men only stan for masculine men, but it seems as though mature users will come to the defense of bigotry when the time comes. There are a lot of young people on this site. That isn't an excuse for their ignorance, but they're young and on the internet where they have anonymity...a not so friendly concoction  You probably wouldn't survive YouTube comment sections. |
Trust me i'm VERY far from sensitive. I' wasn't even offended by those comments, I was just calling out the hypocrisy.
I think that only masculine men get **** when they do something feminine. For example if Ben Cohen suddenly lost 60lb and shaved all his body hair and bleached his hair blonde to resemble the average ATRLer, the reactions would primarily be "

" . But if a person who ATRL already views as a "twink" does something femine/wears a flamboyant outfit, everyone would be pretty accpeting of it. Like I said Conchita Wurst being the prime example i can think of. The reason you don't see feminine traits being celebrated in men here, is due to the fact there is a lack of gay femine celebrities. But if there is a thread in Lounge about a news article of a male gay teen not allowed to wear a dress to prom, or not allowed to do something femine, most of ATRL would defend it.
you only focused on the negativity in that thread. A handful of people doesn't equate to all of ATRL or gay people in general.
