What really irks me about the love for Adele is that (like many singers), she primarily sings about relationships and gets praised for it. But then someone like Taylor gets dragged for "only singing breakup songs." That's not even remotely true, especially when only 2 of her singles are explicitly about breakups and many of her songs have nothing to do with dating
and Taylor's writing about love is much more nuanced than Adele's.
The only song on 21 that I think is particularly exciting in its approach to a relationship is He Won't Go. The rest are very... pedestrian.
I'm interested in seeing how Adele approaches her next album; will she be able to write something decent without heartbreak, or will she end up being a one-trick pony?
