The movie poster style curtains shrouding Little Mix’s stage in secrecy as the support acts got their time showed the girls walking away from an explosion.
This proved to be very symbolic as the girls walked on stage with fire behind them to the sound of sirens opening with their tour titled hit Salute.
Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirwall returned to their home city with their band mates and their presence left the young crowd screaming to unheard-of notes.
The girls have well and truly grown up from their teenage years in the X Factor dressed up in very sultry and revealing outfits starting the show off in racy leather outfits.
It was non-stop from the word go and the layout of the scaffolding stage with three floors of platforms for Perrie, Jade, Jesy and Leigh-Anne to dance on kept them on their feet throughout.
After playing popular hits Nothing Feels Like You and Change Your Life, Little Mix carried on where Katy Perry left last Saturday with an edgy cover of Dark Horse.
They played many hits from their new album with perhaps the standout vocal of the night coming in fan favourite hit Towers.
The choreography and vocal ability throughout the show was a good argument to those that question the talent that comes out of the X Factor.
Their eerie performance of DNA saw the girls clad out in Matrix Style clothing, dancing with male dancers, which was a common sight.
To counteract some of the lesser known hits they did a mash up of popular songs from Jason Derulo, Beyonce, The Throne and Mackelmore, before belting out their own hits Move and Little Me.
While there was very little interaction between the songs and a simple production, this didn’t take much away from their performance.
After closing with their number-one hit Wings, Little Mix fans left feeling more than just a little satisfied, with their appreciation leaving South Shields pair Perrie and Jade in tears.
“THIS LITTLE MIX show proves Britain has a modern-day girlband phenomenon to fill the spot held by the SPICE GIRLS in the Nineties then GIRLS ALOUD in the Noughties.
Little Mix have well and truly moved on from their days as nervous X Factor teenage wannabes.
This was a confident, stylish and slick performance to kick off their first nationwide arena tour.
But there’s one obvious difference between the Mix and their Spice heroes – not one member of the band is a vocal weak link.
All four girls have belting voices which get worked out constantly during the 90-minute performance.
And for me, it’s the ballads that show what these ladies are really capable of.
They kick off break-up anthem Boy with an impressive a capella section, followed by the emotional fan favourite Towers, my highlight of the show.
The third act is where the girls come of age, belting out upbeat hits including DNA and a cover of JASON DERULO’s Talk Dirty in saucy dominatrix-style outfits.
I was a little intimidated by their aggression at points and wouldn’t cross JESY in a dark alley if she was wearing her knee-high boots!
It was an emotional night, which finally got too much for the girls as they returned for an encore of touching Good Enough, where JADE in particular sobbed so much she could barely get out her vocals.
Their single Wings ended one of the most polished girlband performances I’ve witnessed.”

here aren’t many winners of the X Factor who manage to achieve the desired springboard effect once the final credits roll on the ITV1 talent show.
But Little Mix are certainly one of this rare breed. Ever since the all-girl foursome, (who remain the only band to win the contest in its 10 year history), left the X Factor bubble in 2011, they have consistently worked off their knee-high socks in the hope of making Little Mix big.
And on Saturday night, Tyneside were left in no doubt that all their hard work is more than paying off.
The Metro Radio Arena was the second stop on the band’s debut arena tour - which boasts an industrially tribal (with beach buggy benefits) theme - and with half of the band hailing from South Shields, the Newcastle leg was always going to be a special one.
Both Jade Thirwall and Perrie Edwards - aka Little Mix’s sand-dancing contingent - seemed genuinely emotional at the response of their home crowd.
“It feels so amazing to be on this stage and to be home,” said Perrie amid the screams, while Jade added: “I really can’t believe we’re here, singing to you from this stage. Thank you to every person who has changed our lives.”
After emerging from behind a movie poster-style curtain, based on their latest gold-selling album, Salute, the girls - Jesy Nelson and Leigh-Anne Pinnock complete the line up - kicked things off nicely with the long player’s title track.
A stream of hits followed - all given the same polished treatment and sporting the band’s signature sass-with-attitude stance.
True, there was probably more than a smidgen of backing track vocal support during the more energetic numbers.
But when you’re having to maintain that kind of high-octane choreography for track after track, a little bit of help while you get your breath back is surely allowed.
Slower songs like Little Me, Towers and a stripped back rendition of Boy allowed each of the stompy quartet to show off their distinctive vocal ability, with Perrie undoubtedly making biggest impression.
Meanwhile a covers medley featuring Katy Perry’s Dark Horse, Jason Derulo’s Talk Dirty and Beyonce’s Run the World offered an unexpected treat too before they said goodbye with their number one single encoure, Wings.
Costume wise, there were three main changes, all of which could have been filed under a heading called: ‘no nonsense sparkles featuring shades of The Matrix’.
I’m not sure I would have gone for any leather, given the cardiovascular workout which each show undoubtedly offers, but all the girls wore their perspiration with pride. And why shouldn’t they? They earned every drop of it.
LITTLE Mix left a sell-out crowd at Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena stunned at the weekend.
The girlband, which stars South Shields singers Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards, were at the venue on Saturday with their Salute Tour.
The X Factor-winning group, which also includes Jesy Nelson and Leigh-Anne Pinnock, put on an absolutely amazing show.
As the music began, a huge banner of the girls was dropped to reveal a three-tier stage.
The girls were lowered on wires as the crowd screamed and they went into tour and album title track, Salute.
Backed up by a troupe of six male dancers, the girls looked gorgeous and confident as they performed the powerful song.
Next came album tracks Nothing Feels Like You and About The Boy, before Jade told the crowd how special the gig was, especially for herself and Perrie.
The girls thanked their fans for their support before moving into the empowering Change Your Life.
The group’s B]harmonies were so tight and their voices really shone as they belted out those big notes.[/B]
Each of the girls has a stunning voice and was given the chance to show off their skills individually and as a team.
Little Mix performed a cover of Katy Perry’s Dark Horse before running off stage for a costume change and riding back onto the stage in a jeep and singing A Different Beat, before moving onto How Ya Doin’?, Mr Loverboy and a beautiful a cappella version of Boy.
Big ballad Towers left a lump in my throat after the girls gave a stunning and emotional performance.
They sped things back up with Competition and Comic Relief single, Word Up! before running off stage for another costume change.
The girls came back with DNA and Stand Down before performing a medley of chart hits.
The group performed Little Me and Move before leaving the stage as fans screamed for more.
They returned one last time with an encore of Good Enough and Wings, before an explosion of confetti covered the crowd.
The production was absolutely massive and the girls looked and sounded gorgeous.
They’ve come so far since their time on The X Factor and I’m sure they’ve still got a long way to go.
The show left me bursting with pride and desperate for more.

I want to buy my tickets right now front row but I the seating seems so confusing. Please help
It's general admission meaning there's no reserved seating, its first come, first served. However I believe if you purchase a VIP package you'll get admitted to the venue early.
