Just like I'm sure they planned to have half the singles flop this era.
They can plan and attempt all they want, but the GP won't be here for the era in December / 2015.
and as they said, they don't care if the singles will flop, they're still gonna churn out singles because they're not that dumb to just abandon the era and just tour
and besides, it's not like the singles were complete bombs. the 2 flops from PRISM is already a triumph to some artists. it's not the way they planned? sure. but don't think that it's gonna stop them from extending the era.
Linkin Park aren't legends. They started around the same time as Britney (2000) and their previous album was around the same success as FF (750K in the US/2M WW) and their latest one will probably do a little over 1M WW - not that impressive.
Coldplay tho, they kinda are legends. They've already proven themselves commercially and they can still score Platinum albums and top tens WW and now in the US with Sky Full of Stars. Plus they have amazing touring power. And classic songs.

But you're acting as if they continue the era with flops that will help the album sell and go 2x Platinum.
Linkin Park are the Britney of rock tbh. Massive album sales for a few albums, In The End brings back nostalgia like BOMT for that generation, and just like Britney they started a shortlived trend
Sources say there could be “15 to 20 more minutes” of footage yet to be made public in which Justin Bieber makes racial slurs.
... a source tells us that further footage “explicitly shows this was more than just one regrettable joke.”
The source added Bieber is shown making cracks about “black people liking watermelon” and asking a friend whether “his parents are as black as [rapper] Akon.”
