What if Treacherous was the second single instead of Begin Again?
Would it have performed better or worse?

Being track 3 and a slower song, I'm surprised it wasn't the second single.

I mean, are Grammys and The Singles Jukebox (a website Taylor fans cling to only because they praised her to the high heavens during Fearless) the only measures of critical success? Are the countless number of year end lists WANEGBT and even IKYWT ranked on in 2012 and 2013 nothing?

I'm all for Taylor working with lots of different people, but to claim her work with Max is going to automatically be **** based on basically no information is just shortsighted. She's a driven, ambitious girl and she knows what she has to do to expand her brand. Deal with it.

I'm not familiar with this site or those critics. Are they music critics from Billboard, Rollingstone, NY Times, LA Times, USA Today, Entertainment Weekly, Village Voice? If not, who cares how they grade Taylor's songs. Bottomline.. She sold a shitload of Albums, "Red" was nominated for "Album of the Year" at the Grammy's, and she sold out every show on her tour in NA, Austrailia, New Zealand, London, Germany and Southeast Asia. .

Maybe it could have sold more. But, I read alot of Urban blogs after the Grammy's and many said her performance was fierce and they didn't know she played piano. Some went so far as to say "who does Taylor Swift think she is Alicia Keys"? . I know they were hatin' but I found it the ultimate compliment, cuz Alicia is known for her piano playing.

If anything, her "All Too Well" Grammy performance showed her critics that her voice has become stronger and she's more than a guitar strummin country girl.

you wanted them to send Treacherous to COUNTRY radio? well that would have been interesting.

They really should have pushed ATW as the second single though as it is the obvious standout ballad of the album. I love BA though.

It's one of the countriest on the album so yeah.
If they sent Sparks Fly and Red to country only, two solely pop songs, they could have easily done it with Treacherous.

I think for me (what a good term, why she gave it up?), diversity means longevity for both Taylor and this base.
I think/hope there will be more kinds of collaborations on LP5, including MM songs (unfortunately but most likely as singles). I want her to keep open-minded on 2/3 of the albums, release one solo album every 3 albums. That means LP6 will be solely written by her.
