PYHU was unpromoted and not sent to radio, so by that logic it took Selena over TEN tries to get a top 20 single counting songs like Tell Me Something I Don't Know, Magic, and whatever the theme song for Wizards of Waverly Place was.
Ariana has longevity also, hence why she got a multiplatinum hit on her first swing at bat while it took years of promotion, touring, and publicized relationships for others to get one!

We don't talk about that.
A bit of a sidenote, I love her teams thought process on that. "If we delete it from the internet without saying anything, no one will remember" nnnn, what kind of Beyonce superbowl photo teas.

It's time we stop putting Ariana in the same category as Demi and Class Icon Selena Gomez. Ariana is moving up with the likes of Beyonce, Xtina, and Whitney Houston.

If we compare their debut albums she is basically doing it faster than Demi and Selena on the states:
Don't Forget era - no top forty hits, no hit singles afterall, songs sold well anyway, album is gold
Kiss & Tell era - one top forty hit, one hit overall single, album is around 950k last time i checked
Yours Truly era - two top forty hits, one hit single afterall ("Baby I" stayed only one week in the top forty and sold almost the same as "Right There" it isn't a hit afterall and it sold less then most singles from "Don't Forget" which failed to crack the top forty.) Album is around 424k (?)
She did mostly the same on her first era like Demi's firsera (just go on check the single sales) And She did similar to Selena first era too. I think she already passed Demi right now if we compare their las era's and is cominhg for Selena i guess.

Just how Selena works, she has never been a front-loader.

She was also way bigger at that time as it was released following Camp Rock and she was associated with Jonas Brothers who were absolutely massive back then. The fact that Yours Truly, an album that was released last year, is only, what, 100k copies behind DF (and still selling) is remarkable.

and currently Top 30 on iTunes! Already having longevity on her side aaahhh

It took Come & Get It about 3 months not over a year
|
It took over 6 years for Naturally to get certified multiplatinum (including streams too, screaming)
And I was talking about LYLALS being her first single to be certified multiplatinum but keep up I guess.

What it all comes down to is that Demi and Selena have 4+ years on Ariana in the industry, and they were both main girls over at Disney, whereas Ariana wasn't even the star of Victorious, and she still outsold their latest albums. Not WW, because she's not that established yet (plus she's not doing an awful lot of promo. Didn't she visit the UK once and spent some time in Japan? Wow much promo), but she's currently slaying them in the US, which is the main market.

Didn't Ariana also get a #1 album on her first try while it took YEARS for others to achieve one? Correct me if I am wrong.

Why do hate the song so much. Its not that bad.
The MV is atrocious & basic though.

Or how YT outsold Demi's 1st album WW in far less time or how quickly radio embraced Ariana or how grown folks aren't ashamed to like her bc she doesn't make a plethora of cheesy pop songs that sound like rehashes of past hits.

You mean albums released 4-5 years ago when they were already big stars, compared to Ariana's debut which was released not even a year ago, when she was still relatively unknown to the gp?

Falling Down and A Year Without Rain weren't sent to radio either. Hit the Lights was left in dust. Tell Me Something I Don't Know wasn't her single nor was Magic (not the theme song). They were for promotion. By that logic, you wanna count Send It On which peaked at #20?
Where you getting 10 from? It's not all about peak positions either. Like I said, look at the sales in the long run...

@ you acting like Selena is on some Miley Cyrus type **** that Ariana will never reach her level when in actuality Selena is only generating media attention because of her on and off bad boy beau Justin Bieber and her rehab stint
Ariana is far from front loaded if anything Selena is because her single has only sold ~300k more than The Way despite peaking higher on the Hot 100, having more than 5 performances, more video views and peaking at #2 on Pop radio
And lets not forget Ariana's album selling more despite being fairly unknown compared to Selena and her lead single not being as big
