I actually used to help co-own this twitter and was responsible for the Demi shade in the past. They kicked everyone they allowed to help with the station off the account(including me), although they obviously didn't kick EVERYONE.

So you guys believe Katy, not her team, paid stations to play Dark Horse and it went #1 because of that when she could've "paid" them to play Unconditionally? It doesn't make any sense.
Why did he even talk about Gaga? her team paid them to play applause (I think I read her team paid some stations), so what's the big deal? It's marketing, most of the pop stars pay them to play their songs. Dont act like Dark Horse is not popular, it's all over vine, people love it and that's the reason why it stayed for months on iTunes top 10.
#1 on spotify, more than 100M views on YouTube and amazing sales on iTunes it would've been #1 anyways

even IF payola was real:
1st it would be the LABEL and not the actual artist who does it
2nd: no radio station would openly admit to accepting money from labels for airplay, you know, cause it's freaking ILLEGAL
3rd: this is an online radio station with 29!! listeners, they are not a legit radio - no one would even consider giving money to them to play a song since they simply don't count when it comes to airplay

Soooo when someone makes a public proclamation like that about Katy Perry it results in possible termination and an uproar yet when someone makes a public proclamation like that about Lady Gaga it gets multiple headlines as 100% factual and gets constant defense by users on this website and throughout the internet? Take notice of the hypocrisy.

If this were the other way around Katy fans would be arguing the legitimacy of the radio station and slandering Gagas fanbase for disapproving the statements and labeling them delusional.

how did this even get warned? it's one of the few articulate and intelligent posts in this topic. the twitter account was filled with monster retweets. this topic is filled with picture edits of katy suggesting payola.

the only reason this event and its consequential reactions matter is because it exposes the hypocrisy exhibited by you and the media. had this been tweeted about gaga rather than katy perry you would (a) defend the tweets, the legitimacy of the radio station, and the legitimacy of the "tweeter" (b) call lady gaga desperate or some variation of that term (c) slander and belittle anyone that objected to the tweets or your statements as delusional.

but since this is about katy perry in regards to gaga, this guy is possibly getting fired and everyone here is quick to come to her defense. had this been about gaga there would've been at least 3 articles online right now stretching the subject of her careers supposed demise even thinner.

and in regards to the whole payola thing, im sure many artists do it. im pretty sure what this dude would've been getting at is that she paid some serious cash to get her **** in the highest rotation possible. I mean if you're all so quick to assume that in fact all pop stars do it, then why would it be so absurd that some are more hardcore about it then others? and if so what does it say about how well theyd do without it if they choose to go that hard in the first place? at the end of the day shes the one that ultimately gets the most radio spins resulting in the most attention and the most sales so thats all that will matter.

no label would even consider paying money to an online radio station with 29 listeners, therefore they more than likely know literally NOTHING about payola whether it exists or not (hint: it doesn't)

Katy Perry stan, did you even read my post though? I said that the only reason this event and the reaction it birthed matters is because it exposes hypocrisy.
I'm not an idiot, I think its pretty clear from the manner in which the tweets were written that its someone that basically fits the demographic of this forum and has the same mindset.
But thats really not the point. The point is if this were the other way around the majority would defend the tweets, would defend this little podcast like radio station, and would use this as ammo to further stretch the conversation about Lady Gagas supposed demise. It would make headlines and be treated as factual and everyone (maybe even you) would negate the illegitimacy of the source just like everyone did with that whole 25million dollar setback at interscope b/s. Which need everyone be reminded all started from some illegitimate blog like website where the poster wrote nothing but slanderous articles about her. Not much different than this situation. Yet everyone states it as if its fact.

On a side note, Katy Perry receives little to no negative publicity. Anytime anything as small as this happens her fans get in an uproar about it and start whining about how its going to make her look. But the truth is she is untouchable at the moment. You're all the stan equivalent to privileged rich kids complaining that they can only have one car instead of two.
