Michael having Thriller was the staple that meant he could only be revered when he died. Madonna has nothing close to that. The demand to see MJ live was nothing Madge could imagine despite her huge touring receipts. She's considered a joke by many in terms of her music/artistry from the last decade, whereas Michael was viewed as a freak/wacko outside of being one of the greatest American artists ever. She'll do well posthumously, but nothing like MJ did sales-wise or in terms of long term revenue like the Cirque shows that are making serious bank in MJ's name.
