Simon never liked Jordin during her season. He praised her like, what, once. He was all for Melinda. And besides that, he was to wrapped up in Leona and her 10 million dollar promotion to even care for season 6, in which he deemed the worst season ever.

In reality, Melinda was a better singer with more range and power. Jordin was more mainstream and appealing to the young generation.
