BET awards are based on what they think the audience likes while BBMA are based of actual sales and airplay. The BET are subjective and the chanel has been degrading in quality. Compared to the Grammy who are also subjective, BET don't have actual creditals nobody is going to want to be presented as the 5 times BET award winner. The BET doesn't hold credits outside of the black community.

No ****, of course the BET Awards is more popular with black people. No one else really uses it and none of us ever denied that. However, the rest of us know that Rih is on the verge of locking down a strong urban audience. She is black herself. Why in the world should she pay the BET awards dust? Even beyond that, the attention she'll receive from the BET Awards (even if the only people who care are black!!!!) will be greater than the attention she'll receive at the BBMA. I know this is a crazy concept but sometimes you don't have to cater to the entire GP at once. The BBMA are pretty irrelevant to everyone outside of ATRL (I can't think of the last time I knew someone who mentioned them irl) but you still want her to show up. Why? At least the BET awards are actually talked about and remembered.

Rih excels at streaming, if she opts for a non-traditional release a la #newrules then streaming is her best option. She could do limited promo like Jay did (She basically does that to begin with ) but her numbers wouldn't be nearly as impressive. She could probably pull off the Kanye strategy with Kanye numbers but again, that's nothing special for her. She couldn't get away with a surprise album and something involving visuals would be seen as a Beyonce copycat. Streaming is the only place she could excel and bring in great numbers

If your talking commercially, streaming isn't the way to go, at all.

She should stick to traditional, only difference make only the album available and not the songs except for the singles for the first week. Would force people to buy the album as a whole and try to minimise leaks and actually hire someone to monitor websites 24/7 and shut down any links. Also think she should release a video for a song a la Mad House that really sets the tone for the album out of nowhere and have the album release date and/or the lead single date.

Streaming should only be made 2 months after the album release.


Talking bout streaming, she needs to make her single available quicker there like 2-3 weeks after the single drops.
