It's not near his best, Jay listed it as #4 or 5 or something of all his albums. His album is STILL better than most rap albums released in 2013.
That is the truth.
Jay Z is only competing with himself.
And if MCHG is ranked so low what was BOATS ranked?

2013 was the first year that I did one, but I gave B.O.A.T.S. II (which was released that same year) a B.
It's a dope album and, based how I scored the albums, a better album than MCHG in my opinion.
Bye @ you thinking Born Sinner was the best rap album of 2013.

Discredits your whole list.
BOATSII was even more elementary than the first.
BOPS don't make an album great, lyrical ability does.

Let me say this, I'm A HUGE Kanye stan and I was initially disappointed by Yeezus. It wasn't until after I went to the Yeezus Tour that I appreciated what Yeezus is. I translates so much better live and I've been hooked since.

I guess it hasn't won or been nominated for rap...despite it having a rap.
Ok fair enough

And that's why Yeezus, Dirty Gold, LONG.LIVE.A$AP, and Cardboard Castles were in my Top 10.

I don't see how anyone can put 2 Chainz's album above Shawn's

Okay Atthew, why is Jermaine not in the top 5?
He had the best album on 2013.
Nicki would not be happy with you paying her future man dust.

I will say this: the best tracks on MCHG (Holy Grail, Tom Ford, FWMYKIGI, Oceans) are better than all of 2 Chainz's songs on his album... But, while MCHG has huge highs, it also has really low lows (Somewhere in America, Heaven, Jay-Z Blue, Nickels and Dimes).
That's all my personal opinion though and I think I've listened to the MCHG album in its entirety three or four times. I'm not going to act like my word is God's or anything lol.

All the lows you described are my faves and the highs has my worse song on the album FWMYKIGI, I guess you like more turn up music.

Screaming.
No, I don't like turn up music more than any other style of music. I just think that they were the best tracks on the album lol.
Holy Grail and Oceans are my favorites. I feel like both he and his collaborators delivered so well.
And about J. Cole... So many tracks didn't make me feel anything lol (minus Crooked Smile and a couple others I think). Like, I wasn't impressed lyrically or production-wise throughout the entire album.
However, I think J. Cole is still growing as an artist, rapper, and producer and he is gradually getting better in all three areas. Born Sinner, while a step up from his first album, but it just wasn't it lol.
I want a Nicki track on his next album though. I feel like he definitely will cook up a much better album this time.

Jermaine's album was better than MCHG imo and I found his lyricism stellar, we are so opposite in thinking
