I have this *** friend who whenever Bad Romance comes on will do the ENTIRE BR choreo in the club, the little tippy-toe walk and the hands and all that ****. He does the same thing for Judas and Marry the Night.
Rihanna can do anything when she puts effort in. If you watch her GGGB tour her vocals and choreography are on poinT. Maybe she lost her energy.
Rihanna use to have a lot more stamina on stage but she's kind of lost that but I blame it on her being sick during her tours(the last half of Loud, first half of DWT) she's gotten better with vocals and she actually does harder choreo now than in the past.
Like you said she's at her best when she's trying and not tired.
If Rih actually spent time rehearsing in a god damn dance studio her dancing would be way better. I also don't get the impression that she enjoys dancing or cares about it as an aspect of her performances. The only time her dancing really slays me is during the WMN breakdown but she barely does that anymore

A lot of people don't get the DWT sombre/rockstar vibe which is why it gets a lot of stick from pop fans but I agree with you it did have a lot of choreo but it just wasn't the typical popstar choreo.
She was also going through a lot personally during DWT (Chris, Dolly). Idk how she had the strength to not shave her head/break a body part or just breakdown
