Jennifer sonned poor Rih in that CKB performance. She couldn't keep up.
I don't like You and I, but the countrified version is decent. Jennifer was getting her life on Irreplaceable. That makes a good country song, too. It goes so well thematically. "you must not know 'bout me, you must not know 'bout me" sounds so natural with that country twang.
Jennifer is the one that made me like CKB.
She just stood there and snatched.
All homegorl could do was swish her fancy tassles on her dress around.
Poor Rihanna.

thats because irrreplaceable was supposed to be a country song at first.
reba mcentire has a cover version of if i were a boy that's good. it sounds nice as a country song. her version is way better than the one the white girl bey stole it from did.

Them country girls be sangin' down tho. I remember cringing for Alicia when Bonnie pushed her wig all the way back with her 326 year old vocal chords a while back.
I think Rih was keeping up just fine in the CKB performance, but her microphone was just down so low that it sounded like she was doing backup for Jennifer the whole time.
I guess that was the point though considering it was the American Country Music awards and all - Jennifer's award show. Ain't nobody there that cares about Rihanna.

True. I think country and R&B/soul parallel in a lot of ways, anyway. Country is basically the blues with a twang. They all have similar roots.
